Terms and Conditions

AIR TRANSPORTATION: Tour operator's air space may be used on all packages. Transatlantic round trip in Economy Class by TWA, Olympic, Swissair, LUFTHANSA or other IATA carrier. Tourist class elsewhere. Lowest possible airfares that are available and applicable will be used on regularly scheduled flights or charter. All seats are on certified IATA carriers and all rules and regulations of those carriers shall apply. All passengers on charter flights must sign charter participant contract and abide by all cancellation penalties.

RATES: All rates are based on tariffs in effect as of Dec 2000. METRO TOURS reserves the right to alter them, especially but not exclusively in the event of subsequent charges in tariff and/or currency revaluations. All rates are quoted in U.S. dollars.

PAYMENTS: A deposit of $150.00 per person is required within 7 days of booking if reservation is by telephone. Final payment is due 45 days prior to departure. For the Star Clipper packages a deposit of $450 per person is due with 7 days of booking. Full payment is due 65 days prior to departure. All reservations are subject to cancellation if deposits or final payments are not received at Metro Tours main office 484 Lowell Street, Peabody, MA 01960 before the due date. Allow ample time for mail delivery especially of holiday periods. We cannot assume responsibility for slow mail deliveries which in turn cause an automatic cancellation.

CANCELLATION: On all land packages an administrative charge of $40.00 per person will be assessed for any cancellations made after deposit has been received. $150.00 per person if cancelled 32-45 days prior to departure. 50% of total land package or $250 per person whichever is greater if cancelled 8-31 days prior to departure. No refund if cancelled within 7days of departure unless a substitute is found, in which case an administrative fee of $50.00 per person will be charged. A NO SHOW will be charged 100% of land package. For Star Clipper packages an administration charge of $40 per person will be assesses for any cancellations made after deposit has been received. $350 per person if cancelled 59-30 days prior to departure. 50% if cancelled 29-15 days prior to departure. No refund if cancelled 14 days or less prior to departure. In addition airline cancellation penalties depend on if flights are cancelled or changes within 30 days of departure. All cancellations must be received in writing by by Certified Mail (Return Receipt) and mailed directly to Metro Tours ATTN RES. DEPT. 484 Lowell Street, Peabody, MA 01960. At the same time your travel agents should be notified. Date received at Metro Tours AS per certified mail receipt will determine actual cancellation date. We offer a low cost trip cancellation insurance which will protect you against the majority of your cancellation penalties. We strongly recommend you take the insurance.

INSURANCE: To protect yourself from monetary losses because of cancellation penalties we have a low cost insurance available should you have to cancel because of a covered reason as per insurance policy. Health, Accident and Luggage insurance are also available. Call for details.

NOT INCLUDED: Local airport taxes, passport and visa fees; laundry; telephone calls; wines; liquors; mineral water; and after dinner coffees or tea; meals not included in itinerary; sightseeing or service other than those specifically mentioned; tips to Tour Directors, motorcoach drivers when touring, local city guides, and stewards on cruises; items of a personal nature, excess baggage.

REFUNDS: No credit or refunds will be issued for any portion of a tour or meals not taken during the tour. Services that were not performed or received as per itinerary will be refunded provided they are substantiated. All requests for refunds must be made in writing and no later than 3 days after tour ends.

CHANGES IN ITINERARY: The tours are priced and sold as complete packages. Upon receipt of deposit for any tour, modification or changes will be subject to administrative fee and telex/fax charge of %30.00 per person, especially but not necessarily changes made within 45 days prior to departure. This applies to all arrangements made by Metro Tours.

CRUISES: All 3, 4 and 7 day cruises include all meals on ship as per itinerary. Shore excursions are not included and are generally purchased on ship. Cruises used in this brochure are based on double occupancy minimum rate cabin with 2 persons sharing a cabin. Upgrades are available at extra charge. PORT TAXES ARE EXTRA EXCEPT AS NOTED.

On all cruises including yacht charters the captain has a legal obligation to provide the maximum safety for all passengers, therefore he shall alter any cruise itinerary according to his discretion if the weather conditions do not permit him to follow proposed itinerary.

DOCUMENTS: All airline tickets and documents will be mailed to you 2 weeks prior to departure date provided full payment has been received as required 45 days prior to departure.

RESPONSIBILITY: The travel agents for the various companies, owners or contractors hereinafter the Principal providing the means of air of land transportation, accommodation and other services. All exchange orders, coupons and tickets are issued subject to the terms and conditions under which such service from the Principals are offered or provided. The issuance and acceptance of such tickets shall be deemed to be consent to the further conditions that the travel agent and/or METRO TOURS shall not be in any way liable for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay or irregularity which may be occasioned either by defect or irregularity in any vehicle or though the acts or defaults of any Principals engaged in conveying the passengers or of exchange coupon order and ticket is to be regarded as one contracted by or on behalf of the particular Principals named in it. The passenger contract in use by the airline concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission or event during the reserved to withdraw any tour announced in this program and to make such alterations to the itineraries as may be found desirable for the proper carrying out of the tours. In the event it becomes necessary or advisable in th tour operator's discretion to alter the arrangements or the itineraries for any reason whatsoever such alterations may be made without penalty to the operators. Additional expenses if any shall be borne by the Passengers. The right is reserved to decline to accept or retain any person as a member of any group at any time. METRO TOURS is a subsidiary of Metro Travel of Peabody, Inc.

FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

CRUISES: Per person prices are based on two persons sharing an inside cabin with two lower beds, unless specifically mentioned otherwise in itinerary private shower, and toilet as detailed on the respective itinerary page. Outside cabins and a limited number of single cabins are available at additional cost.

BAGGAGE AND PORTERAGE: On land due to limited motorcoach capacity we request that only one bag per person be carried on motorcoaches and this should not exceed 29" x 20" x 10". Garment bags cannot be carried and overnight bags should be carried by the passenger. Baggage handling of one normal size suitcase per person at airports, railroad stations, quays, and hotels is included. If additional baggage is carried (other than overnight bag) a supplementary charge will be levied according to the number of lifts. Baggage is carried at owner's risk and baggage insurance is strongly recommended. IN THE AIR, free allowance is two bags. The maximum linear dimensions (length plus width plus height) of each bag must not exceed 62" or 62 pounds weight. Baggage carried in the cabin must be stowed under the seat and must not exceed 8" x 16" x 21". In addition, a coat, camera, and reading material may be taken on the aircraft. Weight restriction on some INTER-EUROPEAN and Middle East flights is 44 pounds in economy class. Check with each airline to avoid yourself extra charges.
